The new computer has just arrived, which means that over the course of the next few days all kinds of problems will likely surface. Yes, that's how I think. If I seem to have disappeared from the net, rest assured that I am undertaking technological actions such as banging rocks together and painting pictures of a working computer on the walls of my cave.
In the interim, feel free to browse around the earlier posts, and if you visit infrequently then "follow" the blog so that you'll be alerted when the cave paintings fix any difficulties with the transition from this hamster-driven one (which works) to the super-cool one (which will likely have glitches).
Speaking of hamsters, my daughter's hamster escaped some time yesterday, and has not yet been found. No doubt it will go and die in an air conditioning duct, stinking up the house for a month. Beautiful.

Assuming you are going from and older version of Windows to Windows 7, then let the easy transfer wizard walk you through the process. Remarkably for a Microsoft product it actually works.
ReplyDeleteAs for the hamster, hopefully it's just gone off to sulk because it will no longer be needed to power your computer.

The rule of escaping hamsters (or gerbils) is that they will ALWAYS find an inaccessible spot to get into, die, then stink up your house for a month. It's in their contract.
ReplyDeleteIn a really weird turn of events, the hamster was found alive and the old computer suddenly turned itself on. Which is enough to make me wonder if something really, really bad is going to happen to me tomorrow, like running my car into a bus full of nuns while in direct line of sight of the police chief on the day when his wife filed for divorce. Or something.
