Well, I'm going to spend the day (probably the whole day) trying to get at least the free pdf of the Swords & Wizardry Core Rules (I think this will actually happen) up onto RPGNow, and also the books (which I think might take more than a day).
I have put pdf files up on RPGNow, but I have never attempted a POD product, so it's going to be quite a ride. The last time I looked at the setup for a book on RPGNow, it made my eyes glaze over.
Here we go....

Sounds great, Matt! No doubt, this will call for patience and perseverance.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I sent you a piece of feedback regarding the draft. Was the email address the best place to send that?
Looking forward to it. The setup looks intimidating, but it's not as bad as I thought. I'm sure you'll get through it okay. :)
ReplyDeleteWait, it's been revamped and ready to go!? Nice!
ReplyDeleteYou will post the POD file and then wait for them to be processed. Takes a few days for Lightning Source to do that. Then you can order a proof copy. If that comes through OK then you can release it for purchase.
ReplyDeleteFinally when you make the cover you MUST use the ENTIRE template that Lightning Source gives you. To put it another way, you put the S&W cover graphic in the allotted space. Then export the entire things including the extra white spaces and marks they have. If need be I can send you the cover for Blackmarsh to show you what a 8.5 by 11 roughly looks like. The biggest change from lulu will be the new spine width.
Make sure that you validate the PDF for PDFX/1a standard. Otherwise RPGNow will run it through a converter and the result may be that your pictures will come out halftoned. You want to pick non-glossy paper for your colorspace. And yes this applies to b/w printing.
If you get a lot of validation errors they are usually corrected by making sure every single picture is 32bit CMYK TIFF.
Can you give us a link when it's up there?
ReplyDeleteAny chance this could eventually be available as an epub? It would be super handy to have the rules on one's eReader.
