It has the right "smell" about it if you know what I mean.<br /><br />I concur that addition of a lair adds valuable detail without limiting creativity in the way the ecology approach of 2e did.<br /><br />Similar to what I found with using the hex crawl format for detailing a setting. You can give a lot of useful detail while keeping the high level overview loose to make it easy for people to incorporate the material into their existing campaign.<br /><br />I am not sure if I will get the hardcopy but I will definitely get the PDF version. At some point I might come out with a Majestic Wilderlands Monster Manual that uses the same approach. (but not a 1000 pages tho).
